We live in a world increasingly dependent upon the use of technology and information. The art of representing information by technology is fast becoming an inexact and blurred science. The Information Engineer of the future must be equipped with the appropriate skills to meet these challenges. Managing various aspects of information systems used by companies is one of the key skills required by computing and IT specialists.

The ISM postgraduate programme aims to provide students with sound knowledge of planning and control of information systems. It will give students the skills and knowledge of tools to build effective systems incorporating databases and front end, web based technologies.

Entry Requirement

To be eligible for entry to the programme you must have at least one of the following:-

  • University of Greenwich BSc (Hons) Computing; OR 
  • University of London BSc (Hons) Computing Information Systems; OR
  • University of London BSc (Hons) Information Systems and Management; OR
  • Other first degree in Information Systems or Computing related degree; OR
  • BSc/BA degree with a relevant IT component.

A minimum of a Lower Second class honours degree is expected of all degree holders

Outcome

Upon successful completion of this Master's programme students should be proficient in the development of Internet, web and database technologies. They will also have developed the project management skills required for IT consultancy and strategic decision-making. Students graduating from ISM would typically be in a position to become IT consultants or IT managers.

Professional Recognition

This MSc is accredited by the British Computer Society ( BCS ), the chartered body responsible for establishing and maintaining technical and ethical standards in the computing profession. Subject to some straightforward conditions, the programme leads to full exemption from the BCS Postgraduate Diploma and PGD Project. Additionally, this qualification gives partial Chartered Engineer (CEng) status and can be combined with a partial CEng from an accredited BSc course to give full CEng status.

Registration Information

In order to register, you must first proceed to the Greenwich Department for verification of your entry qualifications before any payments or registration can be done. You must provide evidence of your entry qualifications by presenting your original documents or your completed student transcripts along with two (2) photocopies.

 

In cases where student transcripts are used for registration with SBCS, you must request an original transcript from the relevant examination body for formal registration with the University of Greenwich . All transcript requests must be forwarded to:

If your entry qualifications are satisfactory you are then required to complete the following forms:

  • University of Greenwich Application Form (for registration with the University)
  • SBCS Registration Form (for registration with SBCS)
  • GATE Application Form (for tuition funding – nationals only) *

Note in order for nationals to apply for GATE, you must bring your original birth certificate AND national id or passport.

 

After payment of application the fee to SBCS, you are required to present the receipt at the Greenwich Department for recording of the receipt number. If you need an acceptance letter after registration, kindly note that such requests usually takes three (3) working days to process.
