Technician Advanced Diploma in Applied Telecommunication Systems

The advanced diploma takes these skills to the level appropriate to a person preparing for, or working in, first-level management. It is also appropriate for someone who wishes to receive specialised training at a high level. Graduates of the advanced diploma should have a sound knowledge of the technical design principles in one or more specialised branches of telecommunications. They will have the potential to fulfil the role of senior/chief technician with a high level of responsibility requiring the use of personal initiative and critical judgement.

City & Guilds Technician Diploma in Applied Telecommunication Systems or other recognized qualifications

Assessments

Advanced Technician Diploma in Applied Telecommunication Systems
To obtain the Advanced Technician Diploma in Applied Telecommunication Systems, candidates must be successful in all the following assessments.

  • 2730-03-021 Telecommunications Project and
  • 2730-03-022 Advanced Telecommunication Systems (written paper which lasts three hours)

either:

  • 2730-03-023 Advanced Radio Systems (written paper which lasts three hours) and
  • 2730-03-024 Advanced Radio Systems Practice

or:

  • 2730-03-025 Software Engineering (written paper which lasts three hours) and
  • 2730-03-026 Software Engineering Practice (Total two written papers)

The practical assignments are carried out during the semester and should be finished by the date of the written examination.

Candidates must complete two (2) practical assignments:

  • 021/1 and
  • either 024/1 or 026/1.

Advanced Technician Diploma in Telecommunication Systems Theory
No practical assignments need to be completed for the Advanced Technician Diploma in Telecommunication Systems Theory.  Candidates must be successful in all of the following assessments.

  • 2730-03-021 Telecommunication Project and
  • 2730-03-022 Advanced Telecommunication Systems (written paper which lasts three hours)

and one of the following units:

  • 2730-03-023 Advanced Radio Systems (written paper which lasts three hours) or
  • 2730-03-025 Software Engineering (written paper which lasts three hours)
