PGD Finance and Financial Law

This Diploma is ideal for those who already have some experience in either law or finance. The ability to weight the choice of courses towards law or finance will mean that students can tailor their learning according to their needs, interest and pre-existing expertise.

Entry Requirements

You should either have a recognised first degree with good grades in any subject or a recognised professional qualification. Significant work experience that is relevant to law, business or finance would be a definite advantage, but it is not essential.

Programme Content

You will Study one (1) compulsory course.

  • Introduction to Law and to Finance

You will also choose three (3) elective courses:

  • Corporate Finance
  • Financial Law
  • Risk Management: Principles and Applications
  • Legal Aspects of International Finance

As a graduate of this programme, you will be well prepared for working in the financial services sector or as a regulator with responsibility for financial institutions. The Diploma will also be beneficial to existing members of commercial law firms wishing to offer an improved service to clients in the financial sector, or for financiers wishing to enter such sectors as compliance or begin careers in the government service.

Duration Of Programme

A minimum of one year; maximum registration of five years

Assessments

Each course is assessed by:

  • Two assignments
  • A three hour examination held in the October examination period

Each assignment consists of compulsory questions or an essay-based topic, which should be answered in no more than 2500 words.  Assignments and examinations are weighted 30:70
