Technician Certificate in Applied Telecommunications Systems
At Certificate level a broad introduction is provided to the theory and practical aspects of telecommunication systems for a front-line worker or a person beginning an academic training programme.
Entry Requirements
Normal Entry Route:
- Sixteen (16) years or older and four (4) O'Level passes inclusive of English and Mathematics or equivalent qualifications e.g. GCE O'Levels
Mature Entry Route:
- Twenty - one (21) years or older, minimum of two (2) years relevant and verified working experience and evidence of completing secondary education.
- A diagnostic assessment in literacy and numeracy would be administered.
Aims and Objectives
Graduates of this programme should be able to obtain employment within the telecommunications industry at the technician level in the fields of manufacture, installation, maintenance or operation. This certificate will also provide useful unpinning knowledge for those already employed in the industry at the technician or craft level.Assessments

2730-01-002 Communication Systems and Digital Networks 1
2730-01-003 Telecommunication Systems Practice 1
The practical assignments are carried out during the learning
programme and should be finished by the date of the written
examination.
To receive this award candidates must carry out the following
practical assignments:
• practical assignments 003/9, 003/10, 003/11, 003/12;
• one of 003/1, 003/2; and
• four of 003/3, 003/4, 003/5, 003/6, 003/7, 003/8.
