Introduction
School of Business and Computer Science (SBCS) in collaboration with the University of Leicester (UK) is pleased to offer the Diploma in Human Resource Management.
The Diploma in Human Resource Management examines organisational behaviour, HRM, employee relations and employee development.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have a good standard of general education at 'A' Level or equivalent (e.g. High School Graduation) and normally have a minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
Subjects
Students must undertake six modules, they are as follows:
- Study Skills & Personal Development
This first module is not assessed and aims to provide guidance on, and opportunities to practice, study skills that will be needed to successfully complete the Diploma course.
- Organisational Behaviour & Employee Development
In this Module we examine Organisational Development as a corporate response to change. Training as a link between employee and organisational development is also considered.
- Management in Organisations
The aims of this Module are to consider the organisation as a context for learning and to examine the theory and practice of management. The relationship between management and human resource management is also explored.
This module reflects on the similarities and differences between personnel and HRM and examines the nature of the employment relationship.
- Training/Human Resource Management Project
Your own research project based upon current or past work experience.
- Culture & the International Context
This Module examines concepts that relate to understanding international context and how culture and globalisation influence training and HRM practices. It considers how systems of Vocational Education and Training (VET) vary between nations.
Duration
Module 1 is designed to require four weeks' study time; Modules 2-4 seven weeks; Module 5 twelve weeks and Module 6 eight weeks. The duration of the course and the order of the Modules studied for the Diploma courses will vary slightly according to course start dates.
Students commencing their studies in October will submit their final piece of work just over 58 weeks later. Students starting their study in April will submit their last assignment just over 53 weeks from commencement.
Assessment
The coursework requirements are in the form of written assignments and a research-based project. Module 1 is an unassessed portfolio demonstrating study skills and professional development. For Modules 2 to 4 an assignment is required of between 3000 and 5000 words. For Module 5, the Training/HRM Project, the assignment word length is 4000-6000 words and for Module 6, which demands a higher level of reflection and analysis, the word length is also 4000-6000 words. |
