This degree programme is ideal for those who are looking to acquire professional as well as academic computing skills and knowledge. With a solid background in computing, you will be in an excellent position to progress onto more specialised fields later on.

This degree helps you to understand how computer systems are developed, teaches you software engineering techniques, and trains you to design and build computer information systems using modern technology. You also develop personal and professional skills to help you communicate and work effectively with those around you, whether they are computer-literate or not.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for entry to the programme you must have at least one of the following:-

  • ABE Advanced Diploma in Business Information Systems *
  • IMIS Higher Diploma or IDPM Higher Diploma **
  • Associate Degree or HND in Computer Science from NIHERST
  • TTIT IT Diploma (Computer Technology or Computer Engineering Technology) with Bridging Programme
  • ACP Advanced Diploma (credit average)
  • NCC Advanced Diploma
  • ROYTEC's Associate Degree in Information Systems Management
  • EDEXCEL HND Computing

NOTE:   

*ONLY students of SBCS doing ABE BIS Adv Dip will be allowed to begin tuition for the BSc while waiting on results for a maximum of two (2) subjects

**   Holders of the IMIS Higher Diploma must have a completed Higher Diploma and will not be allowed the same privilege as the SBCS ABE students.

Outcome


Career opportunities exist in many computing areas such as IT support and consultancy, and internet and e-commerce applications. Graduates can expect to work as independent consultants or in teams with other computer professionals to build and support modern computing systems.

Professional recognition

These degrees (including the combined honours variants - see below) are accredited by the British Computer Society ( BCS ), the chartered body responsible for establishing and maintaining technical and ethical standards in the computing profession. Subject to some straightforward conditions, the programme leads to full exemption from the BCS Certificate, Diploma, Professional Graduate Diploma and PGD Project, as well as partial Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

Registration Information

In order to register, you must first proceed to the Greenwich Department for verification of your entry qualifications before any payments or registration can be done. You must provide evidence of your entry qualifications by presenting your original documents or your completed student transcripts along with two (2) photocopies.

In cases where student transcripts are used for registration with SBCS, you must request an original transcript from the relevant examination body for formal registration with the University of Greenwich . All transcript requests must be forwarded to:

If your entry qualifications are satisfactory you are then required to complete the following forms:

  • University of Greenwich Application Form (for registration with the University)
  • SBCS Registration Form (for registration with SBCS)
  • GATE Application Form (for tuition funding – nationals only) *

Note in order for nationals to apply for GATE, you must bring your original birth certificate AND national id or passport.

After payment of application the fee to SBCS, you are required to present the receipt at the Greenwich Department for recording of the receipt number. If you need an acceptance letter after registration, kindly note that such requests usually takes three (3) working days to process.
